Penzance

Penzance

Penzance pairs St Michael's Mount, an art deco lido and Land's End's dramatic cliffs into one unforgettable Cornish escape — and a relaxing coach holiday gets you there without the long drive.

Perched at the far southwestern tip of Cornwall, Penzance is a sun-drenched harbour town overlooking the sweeping curves of Mount's Bay. As the last major stop before Land's End, it wears its "end-of-the-line" charm with pride. Between the cobbled paths of Chapel Street, the palm-lined promenade, and the stunning Art Deco Jubilee Pool, the town has a character all its own. If you look out to sea, you'll spot St Michael's Mount, a medieval castle perched on a tidal island that you can actually walk to when the tide is low. With dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and the famous Minack Theatre just around the corner, it's the perfect home base for exploring the wild beauty of the Penwith peninsula.

Getting here is a breeze when you let someone else take the wheel. Choosing a coach tour takes the stress out of the long drive down the A30, leaving you free to sink into a comfy seat and watch the Cornish countryside roll by. Once you arrive, you can spend your days wandering the harbour, browsing independent galleries, or taking a trip out to Land's End and the Isles of Scilly ferry. Many of our coach holidays bundle in cozy accommodation and expert local guides, giving you a great experience without the headache of planning every detail. A stop at the imposing Bodmin Jail is next, where we’ll learn about life in the Georgian and Victorian penal system.

From here, we’ll continue to the Jamaica Inn, which is Cornwall's most famous smugglers haunt and the inspiration for Daphne du Maurier's best-selling novel.

Our final visit of the day is to pretty Port Isaac. Once a hang-out for the notorious Cornish pirate, it is now a fishing village with olde-world charm, and some may also recognise it from the well-known TV series Doc Martin, which is filmed here.
