Rosslyn Chapel
Rosslyn Chapel is a church in the village of Roslin, south of Edinburgh. It is renowned for its intricate stone carvings of biblical stories and mysterious symbols, including the spiralling Apprentice Pillar. Located in the village of Roslin just south of Edinburgh, Rosslyn Chapel is a 15th-century church famous for its incredibly detailed stone carvings. Founded in 1446 by Sir William Sinclair, it took about forty years to complete, largely because of the immense amount of ornate work covering nearly every inch of the building. More recently, the chapel became a global sensation after being featured in The Da Vinci Code.
Inside, guests are greeted by a stunning collection of carved figures, plants, biblical stories, and mysterious symbols that have fueled legends for centuries. The standout feature is the Apprentice Pillar, a spiraling masterpiece linked to the sad story of a talented apprentice murdered by his jealous master. Visitors can explore the chapel's history at the visitor centre or take a peaceful stroll through the nearby Roslin Glen to finish their trip.
