Perched on the banks of the River Tay just outside Perth, Scone Palace sits on one of Scotland's most storied sites. For over a millennium, this was where Scottish kings were crowned, with monarchs starting from Kenneth MacAlpine in the 9th century being enthroned on the legendary Stone of Destiny atop the ancient Moot Hill. Even though Edward I took the Stone to England in 1296, the hill and its small chapel still serve as the symbolic heart of the estate.

The current palace is a stunning red sandstone mansion rebuilt in the Gothic style during the early 1800s and is the home of the Earls of Mansfield. Inside, guests can explore lavish rooms packed with fine furniture, porcelain, ivories, and art collected over centuries. The sprawling grounds are equally impressive, featuring a famous collection of rare trees, a beech maze, forest paths, and peacocks wandering across the lawns.
