Pitlochry

Located on the southern edge of Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire, Blair Athol is one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries, tracing its roots back to 1798. Originally called Aldour, it had a rocky start and actually closed in 1932, but Arthur Bell & Sons eventually stepped in to rebuild it, bringing production back online in 1949. The distillery has been central to the famous Bell's blended Scotch for years, with its rich Highland single malt serving as a vital part of the recipe.

Every year, tens of thousands of visitors stop by for guided tours that follow the whisky-making process from the mash tun to the stills. These tours usually end with a tasting, and the visitor centre features a shop and a unique bar built around a repurposed copper mash tun. With its beautiful stone buildings and ivy-covered walls, it's a truly picturesque spot.

Perched above the eastern edge of Loch Tummel in Highland Perthshire, just a short drive from Pitlochry, Queen's View is among Scotland's most famous vistas. It provides a stunning look west across the shimmering water toward the iconic peak of Schiehallion. While many associate the spot with Queen Victoria's visit in 1866, the name likely dates back further, possibly honoring Isabella, wife of Robert the Bruce.

Located within Tay Forest Park, the site features a visitor center with a café and gift shop, and an easy, accessible path leads directly to the overlook. From here, the full expanse of Loch Tummel unfolds, framed by wooded hills and the distant mountains of the western Highlands. It is a quintessential Highland scene that remains a favorite for photographers and tourists alike.
